I-81 SOUTHBOUND IN AUGUSTA COUNTY REOPENED AFTER TRACTOR TRAILER ACCIDENT

STAUNTON – Southbound Interstate 81 in Augusta County is fully open following a tractor trailer accident near mile marker 208. Both lanes reopened to traffic about 9:10 a.m.

Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operation Center operators reported the accident about 4:15 a.m. Southbound traffic had been detoured onto Route 11 while emergency crews worked the accident and removed the damaged tractor trailer.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
