NORTHBOUND I-81 AT HARRISONBURG CLOSED DUE TO TRACTOR TRAILER ACCIDENT
One Southbound Lane Reopened
STAUNTON (8:08 a.m.) – Interstate 81 northbound at Harrisonburg remains closed due to a tractor trailer accident and fire. The southbound right lane has been reopened.
The accident involving a tractor trailer and a sport-utility vehicle took place shortly before 7 a.m. on I-81 northbound at mile marker 245 just south of the Port Republic Road exit.
Northbound traffic is being detoured onto exit 243 (Pleasant Valley Road) and follows Route 11 before rejoining the interstate at exit 245 (Port Republic Road). Motorists on I-81 and Route 11 can expect significant delays. There is no estimate for reopening the northbound side of the interstate.
