MAJOR DELAYS ON I-81 SOUTHBOUND NEAR I-66 INTERCHANGE

STAUNTON – (5:15 p.m.) Motorists are experiencing significant delays on Interstate 81 southbound near mile marker 299 due to a traffic crash involving a camper.  All southbound lanes are closed in this location but crews are working to get the left shoulder and possibly the left lane open soon.

This location is at the Frederick and Warren county line between exit 298 at Route 11 in Strasburg and exit 300 at I-66.  Traffic is backed up 10 miles on I-81 and is also backed up four miles on I-66.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
