ROUTE 340 DETOUR RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 30 – JULY 3 IN WARREN COUNTY

STAUNTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation has rescheduled a brief detour on Route 340 (Stonewall Jackson Highway) in Warren County, about four miles south of Front Royal. The detour from June 30 to July 3, 2014 will allow contractors to install a concrete pipe under the road as part of the Gooney Creek bridge replacement project.

Beginning Monday, June 30, motorists will use a temporary gravel roadway through the work zone. The detour will be open to two-way traffic, but flagging operations will take place 24 hours a day. Drivers should expect delays until the pipe installation is complete, which is estimated for the morning of Thursday, July 3. All work is weather permitting.

The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
