WESTBOUND I-64 CLOSED IN ALLEGHANY COUNTY
STAUNTON – A tractor trailer accident has closed Interstate 64 westbound at mile marker 19 near the city of Covington. The crash took place about 3:45 this afternoon. The westbound lanes of the interstate are expected to remain closed until at least 9:30 p.m. as crews clean up the accident and repair damage to the cable barrier in the median.
A detour has been set up for passenger vehicles only. Westbound drivers will be directed off I-64 at exit 21, where they will follow Route 696 north to Route 1101, which leads back to the interstate at exit 16.
