SENATOR EMMETT HANGER AND DELEGATE STEVE LANDES JOIN DIGNITARIES TODAY CUTTING SOUTHEAST CONNECTOR RIBBON
HARRISONBURG – Although construction continues, the ribbon will be cut today for the Southeast Connector (Route 280) roadway serving the Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County communities. The ceremony is today, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. on the new roadway.
Speakers at today’s event include Mike Breeden, Chairman of the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors, Carter Melton, Past President of the Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Delegate Steve Landes and Senator Emmett Hanger of the Virginia General Assembly and Randy Kiser, District Administrator Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton District.
This event marks the completion later this month of Route 280 from Route 42 to Route 33 in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County metropolitan area. The final section of the roadway is scheduled to open in mid to late July. The Southeast Connector project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Virginia Department of Transportation, Rockingham County, the City of Harrisonburg, Sentara RMH and developers Stoneleigh LLC/Stone Port and NAI Michael.
The event is open to the public. Parking will be on Route 280 near the Sentara RMH Medical Center. Parking crews will guide guests to the parking area.
