SOUTHBOUND I-81 CLOSED IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY
STAUNTON – Both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 are closed in Rockbridge County due to a crash involving a recreational vehicle near mile marker 196. The location is in the Timber Ridge area, about a mile north of exit 195 (Lexington).
There is no estimate on when the southbound I-81 lanes will reopen. Traffic is currently backed up about six miles. Motorists are advised to consider an alternate route.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
