Advance Mills Bridge |
About the Project
To receive updates about the project, send an e-mail to advancemills@vdot.virginia.gov.This project will replace the one-lane, timber-deck truss bridge over the North Fork Rivanna River in northern Albemarle County.
The bridge is located in the village of Advance Mills just west of the intersection of Route 641 and Route 743. The existing bridge was closed in April 2007 due to its advanced deterioration.
The proposed replacement bridge will be a two-lane truss structure sufficient for all legal-load vehicles, improving access to the community for emergency vehicles as well as mobility for local residents and businesses.
The proposed design will resemble the existing bridge and will be context-sensitive to maintain the integrity of the Advance Mills Historic District.
The final design will be determined with consideration of the comments received during the public involvement process.
