What's Being Done?

Left-turn lanes are being added on the southern and western approaches of the intersection. The turn lanes will improve safety at the intersection by separating vehicles waiting to turn left from vehicles moving straight through the intersection, thus reducing rear-end collisions.

The improvements will also move traffic through the intersection more efficiently since through traffic can continue moving rather than waiting behind turning vehicles. This intersection now handles almost 6,000 vehicles per day, with the projected volume rising to 8,400 by 2032.

There are existing bicycle and pedestrian facilities in the intersection so minor improvements to the crosswalks and traffic signals will also be done during this project.

The work is being done within the existing right of way. Most work will be done at night and during off-peak hours so minimal disruptions to traffic are anticipated. Short-term lane closures and local detours will be handled with signs and other traffic controls.
