Project Overview

This project will enhance capacity and improve the overall operation of the Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road intersection.

A dedicated left turn lane, a through travel lane and a right turn lane will be added on the northbound side of Spotsylvania Avenue.

Adjustments will be made to the existing traffic signal to accommodate the new traffic pattern at the intersection.

Sidewalk renovations, median excavation, milling of the existing pavement, re-paving and new pavement markings are also included in this project to improve the existing intersection.

Construction is expected to begin on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, and will be complete by mid-November 2016.

What Motorists Can Expect

Motorists should expect brief delays during the daytime hours.

Extended lane closures will take place during the overnight hours.

This fall, any significant work at the intersection of Spotsylvania Avenue and Mine Road will be delayed until after the first week of the new school year.

The work will have periodic impacts to traffic on Mine Road.
