Project Details
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has proposed a project in the Mathews Courthouse area of Mathews County to reduce flooding issues.
The proposed project would include an upgrade of an existing crossing under Route 198 (Buckley Hall Road), an upgrade of a storm sewer system from Route 14 (Main Street) to Put-in-Creek, and an upgrade to an existing crossing of Put-In-Creek at Route 611 (Church Street).
A separate enhancement project upgrading the streetscape of Main Street is not included in this project.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) staff will be available continuously from 5-7 p.m. at Thomas Hunter Middle School to share proposed design plans and maps, answer questions, and accept comments on the project.
There will be no formal presentation at the hearing.
For anyone unable to attend the hearing, comments may also be submitted through Monday, Dec. 24.
Mailed comments must be postmarked by Monday, Dec. 24, and emailed comments must be received by the close of business on Dec. 24.
