Project Details
The Virginia Department of Transportation is planning a major rehabilitation of the Route 205 (Ridge Road) bridge in Westmoreland County.
The project will rehabilitate the bridge's superstructure, as well as make minor repairs to the concrete substructure of the bridge.
The project will be advertised for construction in summer 2012. Then, construction will take place from late 2012 until early 2013.
The bridge will be closed to all traffic from November 2012 through February 2013.
A detour route around the bridge is planned. VDOT will install signs along the detour route to clearly mark the way for motorists.
Traffic will be detoured onto Route 631 (Longfield Road) for approximately 7 miles.
The project is estimated to cost $3.7 million.
A public hearing on the project was held on June 27, 2011 and a public comment period was held in June-July 2011.
