This project will build new sidewalk on sections of several secondary roads in Gloucester County: Route 216 (Guinea Road), Route 1216 (Hayes Road), and Route 1219 (Hook Road).
On Guinea Road, a 0.23 mile section of sidewalk will be built to connect with Route 17.
On Hook Road, a 0.21 mile section of sidewalk will be built between Route 17 and Hayes Road.
On Hayes Road, a 1.19 mile section of sidewalk will be built from Hook Road to Route 17, near the intersection with Bellehaven Drive.
The project will be advertised to potential bidders in August 2017. Construction is expected to begin at the project site in late fall 2017, and take approximately 90 days to complete.
Design Public Hearing
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) held a design public hearing on this project on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Abindgon Rescue Squad Building, 2676 Hayes Road, Hayes, VA.
Comments are being accepted on this project until April 4, 2016.
