About the Project
This project will rehabilitate the Route 301 bridge (James Madison Memorial Bridge) over the Rappahannock River between Caroline and King George counties.
Maintenance will occur below the bridge deck and includes repairing concrete throughout the structure and on the beam ends, replacing bearings, shoring up rip-rap on the slope, and replacing navigation lights on the fender system.
One lane will remain open in each direction during the work.
Construction will begin on Monday, April 11, 2016.
This maintenance project was scheduled for completion in October 2017. Work is projected to be completed in July 2018.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) invites the public to attend a “Pardon Our Dust” meeting on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, to learn more about upcoming maintenance to the Rt. 301 bridge over the Rappahannock River.
