Sept. 19 UPDATE

Massaponax Church Road (Route 608) near Cedar Forest Elementary will open to all traffic from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on school days until further notice. The road remains closed all other times, including weekends. Drivers should follow the posted detour that remains in effect, while crews complete road work and drainage improvements.

Project Overview

Spotsylvania County will start a county project in late June 2017 to improve the alignment of Route 608 (Massaponax Church Road) southwest of Route 17 (Mills Drive). The project will remove two blind curves, add shoulders, and increase the line of sight along the road.

Drainage improvements are part of the project. Multiple cross- culverts  that currently overflow onto the road will be eliminated, and adequate ditches will be added on each side of the road along a one-mile section.

For more information, please call the Spotsylvania County Capital Projects Division at (540) 507-7009, or contact the office by email at capitalprojects@spotsylvania.va.us.
