About the Project:

In spring 2011, crews began replacing 19,000 square yards of concrete pavement on
I-264 west between Broad Creek Bridge and Claiborne Avenue in Norfolk. The project called for full-depth and lane-width concrete replacement patching. Under this first project, crews were only able to replace the westbound lanes and a portion of one eastbound lane due to roadway deterioration that required more repair than originally estimated. This second project will repair I-264 east from downtown Norfolk to Claiborne Avenue.

Current Status

After major repairs were needed on Feb. 8, 2013, crews were called in to perform emergency concrete rehabilitation and started work immediately. Since Feb. 8, crews have been working on the permanent concrete repairs in this area overnight and on some weekends, as traffic conditions permit. Mainline repairs on eastbound lanes of I-264 pavement repair were completed July 12. Crews have begun working on all east-and westbound ramps.
