Interstate 664 THMACO Overlay
Project at a Glance
Crews rehabilitated the I-664 concrete pavement for the northbound and southbound lanes from 0.5 miles north of Route 58 to the south side of the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel. Work included concrete patching, joint sealing, shoulder restoration, underdrains, and a Thin Hot Mix Asphalt
Concrete Overlay (THMACO).
Contractors completed this project in November of 2013. The completion date was delayed by a year because the quantity of repair in the contract was significantly increased due to the amount of patching that needed to be completed. Crews have completed five times the amount of work than what was estimated in the original contract. Final contract cost was $14.2 million.
