Features

The project will widen the four lane section on Jefferson Avenue just north of Buchanan Drive to six lanes, and extend approx. 1 mile to Kings Ridge Road. This will increase the capacity and traffic flow on this section of roadway.

Impact on Traffic

Through March 2010, motorists should expect alternating lane closures and traffic shifts on Jefferson Avenue from Buchanan Drive to King’s Ridge Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for construction activity.

Benefits

The purpose of this project is to provide more capacity and reduce travel delays by adding an additional lane in each direction along Jefferson Avenue to include multiple intersection improvements. The project area includes residential housing and an assortment of commercial businesses and offices. After construction Route 143 will have 3 lanes in each direction. This project will ease congestion on Route 143 while improving turn movements at the Richneck Road intersection.
