About the Project

The purpose of this project is to improve the safety of the Mount Pleasant Road/Fentress Airfield Road intersection in Chesapeake. Currently, there is insufficient sign distance, inadequate signing and substandard superelevation.  This project addresses these inadequacies by widening the intersection, adding new traffic signalling and turn lanes.

As of November 2011:

Crews have corrected the sharp curve on Mt. Pleasant Road and recently completed the installation of a new signal at the intersection of Fentress Airfield Road and Mount Pleasant Road.

Total project completion is scheduled for year end of 2011.
