About the Project:
This project widened Princess Anne Road at the Kilmer Lane intersection to include left turn lanes to south bound Kilmer Lane and a right turn lane to north bound Kilmer Lane. Also, three through lanes were created west bound on Princess Anne Road from the beginning of the project to Sigmon Street. The third lane from Kilmer Lane to Sigmon Street became a right turn only lane.
In addition, a cul-de-sac was constructed on East Princess Anne Road. Access to East Princess Anne Road was eliminated from Kilmer Lane and is accessed from Sigmon Street only. Exclusive right and left turn lanes were added southbound on Kilmer Lane. Drainage in the area was upgraded. Landscaping was enhanced on the north side of Princess Anne Road in a 12-foot space provided for that purpose.
Combination light and traffic signal poles were added at the intersection of Princess Anne Road and Kilmer Lane. Vehicle detection was accommodated through video detection cameras. Additionally, the traffic signal was interconnected to the city’s Traffic Management System and includes surveillance cameras for traffic flow management along the Princess Anne Road corridor.
