I-64 Battlefield Boulevard Project

BATTLEFIELD BOULEVARD PROJECT TRAFFIC SHIFT SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, JULY 13

The traffic switch at the Greenbrier Exit in conjunction with the I-64 Battlefield Boulevard project, previously scheduled for Tuesday, July 8, is now scheduled for Sunday night, July 13 (weather permitting).

Motorists traveling on I-64 East heading toward Suffolk should expect a lane shift to occur at Greenbrier Parkway, exit 289. The existing outside lanes will now provide access to Battlefield Boulevard exit 290 and I-64 East. One lane of traffic from I-64 East will be shifted from the main interstate to outside lanes. In addition, motorists traveling to Battlefield Boulevard will need to exit the interstate at Greenbrier Parkway and proceed to the exit using the designated outside lane.  This temporary traffic configuration is necessary to allow the project team to complete construction of the interstate adjacent to the new Flyover bridge and will remain in place into Fall 2008.

We will maintain three lanes of travel for I-64 East; two on the existing interstate and the third using a designated outside lane. We advise motorists to adhere to the series of signs and message boards displayed on the site for further notifications.
