Toll Study
Funding has not been authorized for activities beyond the current study (e.g.
design, right of way acquisition, construction). Therefore, tolls have been
considered as an option to provide needed revenue.
The Virginia
Department of Transportation prepared a study to assess the feasibility of
tolling certain alternatives currently under study. The report only considered
CBAs 1 and 3. CBA 2 was not studied as it is not a limited-access facility
through its entire length.

- Existing
Transportation Conditions: (3.2 MB) This map shows
existing transportation conditions (traffic volumes, truck traffic, and the
level of service at signal intersections) within the study area. Level of
service is a rating from A to E, representing the average delay at an
intersection or a stretch of highway.
- Origin-Destination
Survey Results: (3.1 MB) This map shows results
from a survey given to automobile drivers at the borders of the study area on
Route 460 (Kings Fork Road at the east, Route 156/Prince George Drive at the
west). The purpose of the survey was to determine the origin and destination of
trips taken by drivers entering the study area. The survey results demonstrated
more travelers were headed to study area communities than those that were
traveling through the study area. Because the survey was only taken at two
locations, it does not represent local travel within the study
area.
- Crash
Locations: (3.2 MB) This map shows the locations
of multiple crashes along Route 460 from 1997 to 2002.
- Alternatives
Screening Matrix: (91 KB) This quantitative chart
details the screening criteria for each of the new roadway alignments shown on
the Conceptual Alternatives Map and the existing roadway alignment.
- Roadway
Improvement Options: (162 KB) This graphic
illustrates the five approaches to managing traffic along Route 460. Options
include roadway improvements, mass transit and not building. A new road is one
of the options.
- What Did You Tell Us? (92 KB) Citizens who attended the scoping meetings in August 2003 were asked to fill out a survey about why and how often residents use Route 460. The results are in pie charts.
