Burke Lake Road Widening CompletedVDOT completes project under budget and one month ahead of schedule
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) opened a new lane on Burke Lake Road between the Fairfax County Parkway and Lee Chapel Road in Fairfax County one month ahead of schedule and under budget. VDOT widened the road from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway with a raised median, turn lanes, sidewalks and a trail.
The $7 million, one-mile widening project began in March 2004 with an original completion date of October 1, 2005. Costs included $1 million for design, $2 million for right of way, and $4.1 million for construction.
