Features
The Lorton Road commuter lot is back and better than ever. The Virginia Department of Transportation closed the lot in 1998 for nearby roadway improvements. Today, a new lot opens with nearly twice the spaces and easy access to I-95 and the HOV lanes.Located just east of I-95, the Lorton Road lot is the perfect place for carpoolers to meet and share a 14-minute ride on the HOV lanes to the Pentagon or a 20-minute ride to Washington. The fully lighted lot has kiss-and-ride areas, shelters and 10 bike racks.
The new park-and-ride lot is part of VDOT’s effort to provide more parking for I-95 commuters during the reconstruction of the Springfield Interchange. Over the past two years, VDOT has opened 4,000 new spaces along the I-95 corridor.
The approximately $1 million lot was constructed by Tavares Concrete Co., Inc, of Lorton.
