Lovettsville Shared-Use Path
|New pedestrian facilities along Berlin Turnpike|
Project at a Glance
About the Project
This shared-use path along the west side of Berlin Turnpike (Route 287) will provide access to the Town Square. The project extends from the northern most corner of the Patriot Homes Development near Manor Drive north to Tilghman Drive. The section within the Town Square between Hammond Drive and West Broad Way will be developed by other entities.
The project is occurring in two phases. Construction of the first phase, the portion south of the Lovettsville town center, began in July 2015. The path opened to pedestrians and bicyclists in November 2015 and is scheduled for final completion in February 2016. The second phase, the portion north of the town center, is not yet funded for right of way or construction.
VDOT is administering the project on behalf of the Town of Lovettsville, and it includes the asphalt shared-use path, curb and gutter within VDOT right of way, pavement markings and associated drainage improvements. The project requires grading and drainage easements.
The project is being financed with transportation enhancement funds.
