About the Study
The Potomac River Crossings Data Development Study is examining cross-river traffic and movement demand at existing crossings from Point of Rocks in Virginia to Route 301 in Maryland. This effort is scheduled for completion in late 2015, and will engage with the D.C. Department of Transportation and the Maryland Department of Transportation.
The study is developing a common set of data from which Virginia, D.C. and Maryland can discuss approaches to ease congestion and increase multi-modal mobility among the three jurisdictions.
The purpose of the study is to define the problem, not recommend the solution. The next step after the study will be for the jurisdictions to develop a collaborative and mutually beneficial strategy to address the problem
