About the project

This project would eliminate the free-flow right-turn lane from westbound Williamson Boulevard to Sudley Road (Route 234) and realign it to a 90-degree signal-controlled turn.

The improvements are expected to reduce crashes for westbound right turns, which are currently under yield control at Sudley Road. Vehicles have limited sight distance and are unable to safely merge with the northbound thru traffic. Often times, vehicles will accelerate before realizing there are oncoming vehicles approaching from the east,  subsequently making abrupt stops which result in rear-end collisions.

Approximately 67,000 vehicles per day use Williamson Boulevard at this location.
