What's Being Done
Traffic-calming in Aldie broke ground in fall 2011 and was completed in December 2012. The project is very similar to the Upperville project finished in 2008. Drivers approaching Aldie are now transitioned to the town speed limit with landscaping, sidewalks, and raised crosswalks and intersections in the village area.
The materials used for the sidewalks, curbs, crosswalks, and raised intersections were chosen to complement the historic and rural nature of the community.
Project cost:
$2.2 million - preliminary engineering
$200,000 - right of way
$4.8 million - construction
