Kenny Lee Robinson Route 50 Traffic Calming Measures - Kenny's Corner

November 13, 2009

GILBERT’S CORNER:

It’s Friday the 13th, it’s raining but things are still looking good at the Gilberts Corner Roundabout project.   The contractor achieved another milestone this week.   The project has reached the “Substantial Completion” status.   VDOT and the contractor have begun the “Punch List” of outstanding issues and the project appears to be headed for two most important designations:  “ON-TIME and ON BUDGET”.

There are many people that deserve credit and to celebrate VDOT along with our design/build partners Lane Construction/VHB Engineering will be holding the Gilberts Corner Ribbon Cutting event on November 30th at 1 PM.   We will be joining the members of the Route 50 Task Force at the Historic Mount Zion Church for the event.  The church went through a complete restoration over the past year and the results are remarkable.

Crews are still out on the project as all the details are being completed.  Expect to see crews working on landscaping, lighting, pavement markings and signs.   Also the crews will be spreading topsoil, dressing up and seeding slopes, cleaning pipes and curbs, etc.

There have been a few fender benders at the roundabouts and it seems that yielding to traffic inside the circle is still not a habit with everyone.  Please be careful when entering the roundabouts (Always yield to traffic in the circle) and watch out for those folks that don’t yield the right of way.

UPPERVILLE:

The landscapers have been out to give the flower beds their winter weeding and care.  Also replaced some ground cover near the cemetery that had died.  Thanks to the Saint Louis Area Headquarters for mowing the splitter islands.

ROUTE 50 TASK FORCE:

The next Task Force meeting will be held January 12th at the Middleburg Town Hall at 4:30 p.m.
That’s all for this week. Feel free to stop by the Aldie office or contact us by phone or e-mail.
