Feasibility Studies

Feasibility studies on a proposed strategy are conducted to determine the degree to which: (a) the design or location is economically justified, (b) an alternative is considered preferable from an environmental or social perspective, or (c) eventual construction and operation can be financed and managed.

DRPT issued The Final Report of the Capital Beltway Rail Feasibility Study on April 6, 2001.

Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel Expansion Feasibility Study, completed in 2008.

Northern Virginia Park and Ride Feasibility Study Completed in April 2003.

Route 5 Bikeway Feasibility Study. A study of the feasibility of building a multi-purpose recreation/transportation facility along Route 5 between Richmond and Williamsburg is completed.

TransAmerica Corridor Feasibility Study. A study to assess the need for transportation upgrades from Beckley, W. Va. to Hampton Roads, Va. along I-64, US 220 and US 460. The study was completed in May 1999.

I-95/I-395 HOV Restriction Study. A feasibility study to evaluate High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) operations was completed in 1999.
