Project Description
This project involved the replacement of the existing, deficient two lane bridge over the Swift Creek Reservoir with a new bridge at the same location. In early 2010, VDOT deemed the previous bridge unsafe for vehicles exceeding three tons.
The new bridge has two 15-foot wide lanes with curb and gutter (the old bridge had two 9-foot wide lanes). The wider lanes are able to accommodate cyclists.
The project was completed in November 2012.
