Project Description
The existing Lewistown Road bridge over I-95 is 14 feet, 7 inches high--below the standard height for bridges. The reconstructed bridge will be 16 feet, 5 inches high to meet current standards. In addition, the bridge will be widened to accommodate two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane. Turn lanes will be added to Lewistown Road at the I-95 intersection, truck stop and Airpark Road.
Traffic Impacts
VDOT is currently studying different traffic scenarios that drivers may encounter during construction. The findings will determine how the project should be constructed with minimum impacts to drivers. VDOT plans to maintain traffic on the bridge during construction.
