Project Description

The purpose of this project is to provide safety and capacity improvements for vehicular and pedestrian traffic along the Jefferson Davis Highway corridor in Chesterfield County. For the intersection of Jefferson Davis Hwy. (Rt. 1) and Woods Edge Rd. (Rt. 620), the proposed improvements include adding turn lanes, upgrading existing traffic signals and adding pedestrian accommodations. For the intersection Jefferson Davis Hwy. (Rt. 1) and Happy Hill Rd., the proposed improvements include a new traffic signal, pedestrian accommodations and realigning Happy Hill Rd. at the intersection. There will be lane closures and flaggers directing traffic during construction.     

Anticipated Project Schedule

The following schedule has been proposed:

Design approval – Winter 2016

Begin right of way acquisition – Summer 2017

Begin construction – Spring 2019

Completion – Spring 2020

VDOT will hold a design public hearing for this project August 22, 2016 from 5:30-7 p.m. Public hearing brochure
