What was done?
A new diamond interchange was constructed along I-295 in Chesterfield County to provide access to the Meadowville Technology Park. It includes ramps and auxiliary lanes between the new Meadowville Road entrance and the Route 10 interchange. Meadowville Road was also upgraded to include additional turn lanes, intersection improvements, new overhead signs along I-295 and new storm water management facilities.
This work completes the first of two phases that will eventually include a full cloverleaf interchange and collector-distributor lanes between the Meadowville Road and Route 10 interchanges.
The interchange was opened to drivers on December 15, 2011 (photos from the Chesterfield County ribbon cutting event).
What is the significance of this project?
The 1,300 acre Meadowville Technology Park is one of Virginia’s economic development mega-sites and, by providing direct access from I-295, makes the commonwealth more competitive and attractive to potential businesses.
