Project Description

The primary purpose of this project is to enhance safety and operations where Virginia Capital Trail users interact with vehicular traffic at roadway intersections, private drives and commercial entrances. There are 23 locations within Henrico County under consideration for enhancements.

Enhancements include new signage, pavement markings and detectable warning surfaces. Trail shoulder improvements, raised concrete medians and high visibility crosswalk markings are also under consideration.

Traffic impacts

During construction, minimal traffic impacts are expected. Work will be performed within the existing right of way. No work will take place in the travel lanes.

A public information meeting was held January 16, 2017. A meeting brochure is available.
