Project Description

The primary purpose of this project is to improve safety and traffic operations at the Route 1/Route 226 and Route 226/Route 600 intersections.

The signal at the Route 226/Route 600 intersection will be replaced with a single lane roundabout—one 16 foot lane with a five foot sidewalk and a dedicated right turn lane from Route 226 west onto Route 600.

The proposed project includes the widening of Route 226 from approximately 0.10 miles west of Route 600 to Route 1 for a total length of 0.30 miles. The thru lanes will be widened to 14 feet to accommodate bicycles.

Route 1 improvements will consist of minor widening on the west side of the intersection. The length of the 12-foot wide left turn lane onto Route 1 will be extended and the existing right turn lane will be redesigned to improve movements at the Route 1 intersection.
