What's Being Done?

This project will widen one mile of Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) at New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg from two to four lanes with turn lanes and improve access management by installing a raised median.

The project also will include relocating the signal at the mall entrance and building a new Huckleberry Trail bridge over Route 114.

Traffic Impacts

The intersection of Stafford Drive and Peppers Ferry Road will be closed from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. A new traffic pattern will be in place on Peppers Ferry Road from east of Walnut drive to the BP gas station. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to one of the westbound lanes reducing the two westbound lanes to one.

Flaggers may control traffic at times for utility operations taking place on Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) near the New River Valley Mall. Trucks will be entering and exiting the road in this area. Occasional flagging operations will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Marshall Drive will be closed  its intersection with Route 114 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26. Marshall Drive will be reopened at the end of the workday. All businesses along Marshall Drive can be accessed  from the south end of Marshall Drive near Wal-Mart or utilize the ramp from Route 114 that leads to Walgreens.
