Route 114 Widening - Christiansburg
Project at a Glance
What's Being Done?
This project will widen one mile of Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) at New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg from two to four lanes with turn lanes and improve access management by installing a raised median.
The project also will include relocating the signal at the mall entrance and building a new Huckleberry Trail bridge over Route 114.
Flaggers may control traffic at times for a road widening project and the construction of a pedestrian bridge on Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) near the New River Valley Mall. Trucks will be entering and exiting the road in this area. Occasional flagging operations will take place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on weekdays. Paving may cause lane closures.
Traffic will be managed by local law enforcement during the night time operations. Daytime lane closures may occur while line striping is performed.
During the week of October 17, the following roads will be closed at the intersection of Route 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) at various times, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. due to paving:
• Somerset Street (Detour to Majestic Drive)
• Majestic Drive (Detour to Somerset Street)
• Stafford Drive (Detour to Quinn Street).
Motorists should also expect multiple traffic shifts in the area until early November.
