Welcome to VDOT's "Strasburg 2020 Transportation Plan" study web site. The study was conducted to provide long term needs assessment for the Town's thoroughfare highway system. The boundaries of the study area are the corporate limits of the town of Strasburg. The following roadway segments were evaluated
- Route 11 (King Street / Massanutten Street) from South Corporate Limits to North Corporate Limits
- Route 55 (King Street) from West Corporate Limits to East Corporate Limits
- Route 638 (A Street) from Capon Street to West Corporate Limits
- Route 648 (Holliday Street) from Washington Street to South Corporate Limits
- Route 761 (Capon Street) from King Street to B Street
- Route 900 (Sharpe Street) from King Street to Queen Street
- Route 1201 (Queen Street) from Sharpe Street to Route 55
- Route 1204 (Washington Street) from Eberly Street to Capon Street
- Route 1206 (B Street) from Capon Street to Third Street
- Route 1207 (Aileen Avenue) from Queen St to Dead End
- Route 1210 (Third Street) from B Street to Orchard Street
- Route 1211 (Orchard Street) from Route 11 to Third Street
- Route 1235 (Eberly Street) from Route 55 to Washington Street
Data collected for the study of the town includes:
- traffic counts conducted in March 2000
- accident report information from 1996 through 1998
- VDOT database of roadway geometric conditions (dimensions)
- review of tourism and goods movement issues in the Town
The above information was analyzed to identify Strasburg's 2020 transportation needs based upon highway capacity, geometry, and safety as well as other concerns that may be raised by local officials and citizens. The Virginia Department of Transportation presented proposed recommendations for the Strasburg 2020 Transportation Plan, January 8, 2002 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Strasburg town offices located on East King Street. The purpose of the meeting was to describe the current and future transportation needs, as well as recommended improvements to the Strasburg thoroughfare system.
On February 12, 2002, the Strasburg Town Council adopted the Strasburg 2020 Transportation Plan.
