Public outreach

This project will construct a right turn lane at the existing intersection of Fox Drive (Route 767) and Route 522 (North Frederick Pike). The turn lane with curb and gutter will be constructed on the northbound lane of Fox Drive. The project includes placement of a median at this location to improve the traffic flow on the roadway and improve the inadequate entrance spacing to an adjacent business.

Fox Drive at the project location will have one 14-foot southbound lane and two 11-foot northbound lanes. The northbound lanes include a combined through and left-turn lane plus one right-turn lane. The existing traffic signal will remain.

Construction is currently scheduled for spring 2019 and should take approximately three months to complete.

In 2016, Fox Drive had an average daily traffic count of 5,528 vehicles per day and Route 522 had 21,509 vehicles per day.

The total estimated cost for this project is $650,996, including $98,958 for preliminary engineering, $219,423 for right of way and $332,615 for construction.

*This project was selected for funding under SMART SCALE, the new prioritization process as outlined in House Bill Two. Click here for more information on the prioritization process.
