Candidate Project

The proposed project includes providing the addition of a truck climbing lane in the northbound lane of I-81 from approximately mile marker 195.8 (approximately 0.3 miles south of Route 716) to approximately mile marker 202.5 (approximately 1.5 miles north of Route 710 at exit 200, Fairfield).

The total project length is approximately 6.7 miles, including necessary transitions and tapers.

VDOT has determined that project delivery via design-build contracting will allow for timely allocation of available funding and expedite completion.
