Project Details

This project is located on Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) at Route 276 (Cross Keys Road) in Rockingham County.  This project extends the Route 33 westbound left and right turn-lanes from Route 276, extending 0.16-mile east.

The project includes adding additional fill to slope, guardrail installation, traffic sign relocation, grading, place and compact base stone, paving and all associated pavement markings. All work is done within the existing right-of-way.

This section of Route 33 has a traffic count of 23,900 vehicles per day.

The project was awarded by the VDOT Commissioner on Feb. 17, 2011 to Plecker Construction Co. of Staunton.  The contact value is $138,228.90 and has a fixed completion date of September 30, 2011.  The project was completed ahead of schedule on June 3, 2011.

Benefits of Project

The purpose of this project is improve the safety of the traveling public by adding additional storage area to existing turn lanes.
