Tri-County Parkway Location Study
Welcome to the Web site for the Tri-County Parkway (TCP) Location Study. These pages are designed to be informative and helpful. The information presented will be updated as the study progresses, so we hope you will visit often.
What's new on the site?
- A Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) is being prepared to
document the action of the CTB, respond to comments received on the DEIS
and address the measures to mitigate impacts. The FEIS is approved by
the Federal Highway Administration and is expected to be completed late
Summer 2006.
- Board
Approves Location for TCP in Northern Virginia (Nov.
18, 2005)
- The
Commonwealth Transportation Board TCP Resolution (Nov. 11, 2005)
- Draft Environmental Impact
Statement (April 1, 2005)
Preferred Alignment Selected
Findings from the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) and input from the public hearings, local governments, as well as comments received on the DEIS were presented to the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) for their consideration during their September 2005 meeting. On November 17th, 2005, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) approved the West Two Alternative as the location of the Tri-County Parkway.
West Two Alternative Details
The West Two alternative is located west of the Manassas National Battlefield. The alignment starts at US 50, John S. Mosby Highway and extends in a southerly direction ending at the 234/I-66 interchange, near the western boundary of the Manassas National Battlefield Park. The length of the alignment is 10.46 miles. What's Next?
- After the approval of the FEIS, a Record of Decision (ROD) is issued by the Federal Highway Administration. The ROD will document the selected alternative and outline the mitigation measures and commitments. The ROD is the final federal approval for this project . We anticipate this to occur in Winter 2006.
- Beyond the completion of this study, there is no schedule for final design or construction of the Tri-County Parkway.
