Over the course of the next few years, VDOT plans to widen Warwick Boulevard from four to six lanes between J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and Nettles Drive. On this website, you’ll find project updates and details as well as the construction schedule for this project.
VDOT and the City of Newport News worked together to design this project for both day and night-time construction. We’re committed to keeping two lanes of traffic open in each direction during daylight hours, but motorists should expect light congestion throughout the day as a by-product of general construction.
Most major work is scheduled at night between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. During these hours, travel will often be limited to one lane in each direction. Avoid congestion by steering clear of this 2.1 mile stretch of road during these hours.
