Hurricane Evacuation Guide

Phase Two Evacuation

From 14 hours before the start of tropical storm-force winds

Motorists should expect some entrance ramps to be closed in order to smooth traffic flow onto the interstates and prevent bottlenecks.

You should follow the hurricane evacuation signs (shown here) to lead you away from the area.

During an evacuation, the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel’s (MMMBT) tube headed north, connecting Suffolk to Newport News, will be closed to all traffic to prevent jams at the Interstate 664/64 interchange.
