BRIDGE DECK REPAIRS ALONG I-66 BEGIN TONIGHT
Motorists should use caution approaching work zone, expect delays

CULPEPER — Starting tonight, a contractor with the Virginia Department of Transportation will perform deck repairs at several bridges along Interstate 66 between mile marker 31 (near the The Plains) and mile marker 36 in northeastern Fauquier County.

Beginning in the westbound lanes, crews will work from 8 p.m. each night to 1 p.m. the following afternoon. After repairs have been made to the I-66 westbound bridges, the contractor will switch to begin work in the eastbound direction. The work is expected to continue each night through Aug. 12, weather permitting, and will reduce traffic to a single lane through the work zone.

The repairs involve bridge-deck patching, preventive maintenance and deck resurfacing with a latex concrete overlay.

During the work, motorists should remain alert for workers and equipment near the travel lane and expect delays.

Updates and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. Local updates are also posted to Twitter.com/VaDOTCulp.
