LANE CLOSURES UPCOMING AT RT. 29-666 INTERCHANGE
VDOT contractor will pour concrete bridge deck overnight on May 11 and 17
CULPEPER — Overnight on Wednesday, May 11, Route 29 northbound will be restricted to one lane for pouring of the concrete bridge deck on the new grade-separated interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road/Greens Corner Road) in Culpeper County.
Weather permitting, the work will begin at 11 p.m., affecting first the left through and left-turn lanes, then switching to a closure of the right through and right-turn lanes. All lanes will be reopened by 6 a.m.
The same work and lane closures are planned for the southbound side of Route 29 overnight on Tuesday, May 17, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Virginia Department of Transportation contractor Chemung Contracting Corp. of Mitchells is also working to connect the eastern end of Route 667 (Nalles Mill Road) to the newly constructed Rogers Road near the interchange. Route 667 is currently closed between Route 799 (Keyser Road) and Route 666; motorists should use an alternate route.
The $28.6 million Route 29/666 project involves reconstructing the existing intersection as a grade-separated interchange for improved safety and mobility. Work began in May 2015 and is expected to finish by Aug. 18, 2017.
