NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ON ROUTE 666 BEGINNING OCT. 21
Traffic shift on Route 666; new Poor Farm Road entrance open

CULPEPER — A new traffic pattern will take effect Friday, Oct. 21 in Culpeper County on the eastern end of the ongoing Route 29/666 interchange project, near Eastern View High School.

The existing entrance to Route 721 (Poor Farm Road) from Route 666 (Greens Corner Road) will be permanently closed. Motorists will access Poor Farm Road via its new entrance at the Route 666/Cyclone Way intersection.

Traffic will also be shifted on Route 666 at Cyclone Way to allow workers to begin construction on the westbound shoulder.

Message boards will be in place to notify the public. Motorists should use caution and obey traffic controls.

The $28.6 million Route 29/666 project involves reconstructing the existing intersection as a grade-separated interchange for improved safety and mobility. Work began in May 2015 and is being performed by contractor Chemung Contracting Corp. of Mitchells. The project’s fixed completion date is Aug. 18, 2017.
