RT. 230 REDUCED TO ONE LANE AT CONWAY RIVER BRIDGE
Temporary traffic signal will go into operation Sept. 20
CULPEPER — A new traffic pattern will take effect Tuesday, Sept. 20 on Route 230 (Wolftown Hood Road) at the Madison-Greene county line as construction continues on the Conway River bridge rehabilitation project.
Two-way traffic will use a single 11-foot travel lane to cross the bridge, controlled with signals on both ends of the project. Message boards and restricted width route signs will be in place to notify the public.
Motorists are asked to be mindful of the new traffic pattern and use caution as they approach the work zone. Large vehicles, including tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles, are advised to detour around the project via Route 29 (Seminole Trail) and Route 33 (Spotswood Trail).
Under a $1.99 million construction contract, Virginia Department of Transportation contractor Kanawha Stone Company, Inc. of Nitro, West Virginia is replacing the existing bridge’s superstructure, including its deck and riding surface, as well as its piers. Work began this summer and will be completed in November 2017.
