RT. 643 IN GORDONSVILLE TO CLOSE FOR THREE WEEKS
Motorists detoured during replacement of three damaged drainage pipes

CULPEPER — A section of Route 643 (Cox Mill Road) in Orange County will be closed for three weeks beginning at 8 a.m. on July 18 while a crew with the Virginia Department of Transportation replaces three damaged drainage pipes at Wolftrap Branch.

The closure will be in place 1.7 miles south of Route 639 (Madison Run Road) and 3.5 miles north of Route 690 (Black Level Road). A signed detour will direct northbound motorists west onto Route 690, north on Route 15, and then east on Route 639, which carries traffic back to Route 643. Southbound motorists will reverse the detour. Access to all driveway entrances will be maintained during the closure.

Weather permitting, the road is expected to reopen to traffic in the afternoon on Aug. 5.

Message boards will be in place to notify the public of the closure and any weather-related schedule adjustments.

Updates and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. Local updates are also posted to Twitter.com/VaDOTCulp.
