TRAFFIC SWITCH AT RT. 729/784 IN CULPEPER NEXT WEEK
Motorists will use new spur road as work continues on Western Outer Loop project

Map of Traffic Pattern ChangeCULPEPER — Mid-morning on July 27, traffic on Route 729 (Eggbornsville Road) in Culpeper County will begin using the recently constructed spur road at Route 784 (Western Outer Loop). With this traffic switch, a short segment of Route 729 between the two legs of the spur road will be permanently closed.

The new traffic pattern, which will be the final configuration for the intersection, will require motorists to use a new stop sign-controlled intersection to continue north or south along the route.

The traffic switch is necessary for VDOT contractor General Excavation Inc. of Warrenton to continue work north of the intersection.

Motorists should proceed with caution through the work zone and stay alert for new signs and traffic controls. Message boards will be in place to notify drivers of the change.

The $9.7 million contract will construct a two-lane divided connector road on new alignment between Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) and Route 729. The project’s completion date is November 1, 2017.
